When a watch is described as "gold plated with 3 microns," it refers to the thickness of the gold layer applied to the watch. 3 Microns: This means the gold layer on the watch is 3 microns thick, which is relatively thicker compared to standard gold plating.
In general, the thicker the gold plating (in microns), the more durable and longer-lasting the gold finish will be. Gold plating with 3 microns of thickness is considered good quality for jewelry and watches, as it provides a reasonably durable layer of gold.
