An exquisite vintage Indonesian ceremonial hairpin, worn by Indonesian brides, as part of elaborate traditional wedding costume. 

Composed as a lotus flower from an exotic arrangement of leaf and flower motifs in quality oxidised silver tone, the ornate openwork of the domed head is adorned with an arabesque design of filigree and set with faceted-glass stones, in an attractive grey hue.

The lotus flower is sacred flower central to the symbolism of the ceremonial bridal costume and is the central motif; accentuated by the beautifully-coloured dusky grey stones that are arranged as petals at the centre, as well as being dotted at salient points around the hairpin; adding lovely accents of colour.

Prettily-embellished details have been worked onto the surface of the silver tone by hand-embossing and an arrangement of silver filigree scrolls and flourishes add romantic accents. The details are stylised leaf and foliage motifs, that together with the lovely muted appearance of the dove grey glass stones, adds to the hairpin's timeless beauty.

The two twisted prongs are strong and clean and they firmly-secure the hairpin into the hair. The pin is a good length, making it suitable for medium-long hair. 

This is a gorgeous hairpin that blends the exotic, the romantic and the historic from both eastern and western influences; evoking the bejewelled hair jewellery of medieval, Renaissance and Pre-Raphaelite times.
